Epic Games’ new RPG, Infinity Blade, has become the fastest grossing iOS title ever.  Just released last week, the game has already hit the #1 spot, ousting Angry Birds HD from its long-held position.  Priced at $5.99, the game has already generated over $1.6 million in sales since release along with over 270,000 registered users thus far.

The launch of Infinity Blade is also unique as it is the first game to launch on the iOS platform that utilizes the Unreal Engine 3 technology that was previously reserved for more powerful platforms like the PC and current gen consoles.

What has been the stuff of rumors for years now has finally gained some reality.  Blizzard has annouced that recent job postings (that seemed to suggest a Diablo game on consoles) is in fact true.  Blizzard clarified that this does not mean they intend to port upcoming Diablo 3 to the consoles anytime soon, stressing that this will not delay the PC release of that game.  However, they did state that they were “currently exploring a Diablo-related concept for consoles.”

The gameplay for the Diablo series fits perfectly with console controls and mechanics.  I was starting to think that Blizzard was just afraid of the console market.  Its good to see they’ve faced their fears and are looking to bring that Diablo goodness to consoles.

Mistwalker recently revealed that their upcoming RPG for the Nintendo Wii, The Last Story, will feature 6-player online cooperative and competitive gameplay modes.  In addition, players will be able to customize their character’s looks as well as paint their armor to further distinguish them.  The cooperative mode is said to be a way for players to team up to take down touch monsters, while the competitive mode will be a battle arena where players can fight each other.

Little was revealed beyond this, like whether players will be using characters from their single player campaign or using new multiplayer-only created characters.

The Last Story is still set for a January 27th, 2011 release in Japan.  No details on releases outside of Japan as of yet.

Trendy Entertainment annouced on their forums recently that their upcoming Dungeon Defenders game is going to be delayed until January 2011.  Apparently the game is complete however delays with certain “platform owners” is causing this multiplatform release to be pushed back.  However, not all is lost.  Trendy also annouced that additional content that was to be part of the game’s first DLC pack, including new maps and items, is now going to be part of the game’s release at launch.

Dungeon Defenders will be launching on Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network, and the PC.

BioWare has recently annouced that the upcoming port of Mass Effect 2 on the PlayStation 3 will include an exclusive intro and mission.  The intro will will play out as an interactive comic, following the events of the first Mass Effect game while allowing players to make vital choices that will effect their games in Mass Effect 2.

On the Xbox 360 and the PC, Mass Effect 2 players were able to import their saves directly from their Mass Effect 1 games, ultimately changing how certain events played out.  However, since Mass Effect 1 has not been (and from the sounds of it, will not be) released on the PS3, this interactive comic will allow players to make some of the critical choices from the first game.

In addition, it was revealed that the PS3 version will drop with all DLC thus far, including ‘Overlord’, ‘Kasumi: Stolen Memories’, ‘Lair of the Shadow Broker’ as well as access to the Cerberus Network and all the free DLC located there.  And finally, little was revealed about the exclusive “mission” to be included, however it was stated that it would include 6 hours of new gameplay.  Based on the time length, that would seem to be on par with each of the DLC packs released, including those from the Cerberus Network.

Mass Effect 2 on the PS3 is still scheduled for a January 2011 release.

Gearbox has recently updated fans regarding its upcoming free title update for Borderlands that will be raising the current level cap.  Many had fans believed that the recently annouced title update would have coincided with the recent release of Borderland’s Claptrap’s New Robot Revolution DLC, but unfortunately that was not the case.  To relieve concerns from fans that the update was not coming after all, Gearbox has annouced that the update is still incoming and gave some details regarding it.  Sounds like the update will raise the level cap from 50 to 58 for everyone, while players that have downloaded the Secret Armory of General Knoxx DLC will see the level cap raised from 61 to 69.  In addition, everyone will see their second playthroughs updated to be scaled to the new level cap.
